A Festival of Lessons and Carols
On Sunday 23rd December you can experience the mystery of Christmas in the magical ambiance of the Aa Church, where the Roden Girl Choristers directed by Sonja de Vries present a Festival of Lessons and Carols. The very first Festival of Lessons and Carols was held on Christmas Eve 1918 at King’s College in Cambridge. During this Festival the Christmas story is told in nine short readings that are interspersed with Carols and community singing. A tradition that has moved and inspired many all over the world for a hundred years.
This evening's programme features compositions for soloists and choir and includes traditional Carols as well as modern arrangements. The Roden Girl Choristers will perform arrangements by David Willcocks, Bob Chilcott, Anthony Baldwin and Sietze de Vries, who will also be accompanying the choir on organ.
