Come and see the works of Myrthe Denkers and Mara Piccione
Works by artists Myrthe Denkers and Mara Piccione are on show in the entrance (the blob) to the Remonstrant Church on weekdays, from 25 July through 30 September.
The glass entrance to the offices of the Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken, the foundation for historic churches in Groningen, was designed by Moriko Kiro and is an example of blobitecture (or blob architecture i.e. buildings with curved or rounded shapes). In the centre of Groningen this is the place for emerging artists to display their works. Starting July 25th visitors can become acquainted with the works of two talented young artists: Myrthe Denkers en Mara Piccione.
About her work Myrthe says: “I must admit that I sometimes find it difficult to accept reality, especially if it doesn’t live up to my expectations”. Myrthe’s illustrations depict people dreaming as well as people struggling to cope with life. Sometimes she adds a short sentence or a personal comment to her illustrations. “In my illustrations I can express my deepest thoughts and feelings and I can turn disappointments into achievements.”
Mara Piccione is an illustrator and silkscreen artist. Her focus is on music and music culture, her source of inspiration. Characteristic of her silkscreens are their strong compositions, stylized forms, powerful patterns and her use of only three or four colours.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
‘Kunst in de Blob/Art in the Blob’ is presented by Organisatiebureau Geert Lameris and Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken.
