Theatrical Songs & Beautiful Ballads
On Sunday 12 March Annelies Gallagher presents Don’t Rain on my Parade: a programme featuring easy-listening music.
Don’t Rain on my Parade
From cheerful Broadway standards to unique lesser known gems: Don’t Rain on my Parade is an intimate, informal and humorous programme for young and old. Annelies Gallagher performs tunes from Funny Girl, Wicked, Show Boat, The Colour Purple and beautiful songs like Endless Love, You Don’t Bring Me Flowers and Woman in Love, with guests Gerard Doornbos, Karin Noeken and Lies Akkerman and accompanied by Jasper Blokzijl (vocals and piano). Annelies: ‘It’s going to be a cosy and entertaining Sunday afternoon in one of the prettiest churches in Groningen.’
Annelies Gallagher started out as a classical singer and trained at the Schumann Akademie. For years she sang in various oratorio choirs. As half of the duo ‘The Sopranettes’ she combined classical songs with humour. In 2010 she started experimenting with other genres and became part of the hilarious duo ‘Dames – levende jukebox’ (Ladies – living jukebox) focusing on audience participation. She now feels at home in a variety of genres and regularly performs in different combinations.
