Bach - Fragile Existence
On Saturday 26 November the Ars Musica Chamber Choir will give a concert in the Aa Church. The programme includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach.
This autumn the Ars Musica Chamber Choir will present a series of concerts focussing on BWV 106 ‘Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit’ by Johann Sebastian Bach. This cantata, known as Bach’s Actus Tragicus, is considered one of his most important works. The programme also includes works by Johann Bach and Johann Ludwig Bach.
The edge of life and death
The timing of this concert series corresponds with the release date of the book and CD Aan de grenzen van het leven (the edge of life and death). This book and CD set is about life changing experiences: loss, grief, mourning, loneliness, disappointment, farewell, consolation, expectations. The book was written by Evert Pieter van der Veen, a pastor of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands.
The music on the accompanying CD by J.S. Bach and a few of his contemporaries was chosen by Van der Veen and conductor Patrick van der Linden and recorded by the Ars Musica Chamber Choir and members of the Ars Musica Orchestra. A selection from the CD will be performed in this concert:
