Liesbeth Wildeveld and Sven Otte in concert on Sunday 13 December at the church in Klein Wetsinge.
Sven Otte was born in Mϋnster and began studying double bass at the age of 17. He studied at the conservatories of Essen and Cologne and took several master classes. In Germany he performed with many different orchestras. In 1998 he won an international double bass competition in Edinburgh. Sven Otte's repertoire also includes jazz and improvisation. He has been a member of the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra since 1998.
Liesbeth Wildeveld majored in piano at the Prins Claus Conservatory and minored in musicology at the University of Groningen. After her graduation she continued her studies with Sylvia Tray in Antwerp. She is now employed as a chamber musician and accompanist on both piano and harpsichord, and is often asked to accompany young talent.
The church in Klein Wetsinge
The church in Klein Wetsinge in located between Sauwerd and Winsum and offers beautiful views of the Reitdiep Valley. The church was recently restored and renovated. It is run by Nicolaas and Inez Geenen, both born and bred in Groningen. They earned their spurs in Limburg where they managed a restaurant for twenty years. Whenever possible they work with traditional methods and organic products.
The church is open daily. The extensive lunch and drinks menu features a variety of soups, sandwiches and salads. For panoramic views of the Reitdiep Valley visitors can climb upstairs, where they can also see the unique tower clock.
