A capella chamber choir
On Sunday afternoon 7 February an a capella chamber choir, consisting of four masters and twenty pupils, will give a unique performance in the Aa Church.
In January the choir rehearsed a programme that will be performed throughout the country during the month of February under the direction of Latvian-born conductor Sigvards Kļava. This year is their first performance in Groningen. The programme was inspired by Kļava’s lifelong wish for a peaceful world: Da pacem, ‘give us peace’. The programme includes works by Nystedt, Schnittke, Weelkes and Pärt.
Twenty young singers, all students or recent graduates from Dutch conservatories, have been given this wonderful opportunity to gain some practical experience with professional colleagues. With their ‘masters’ the ‘pupils’ will perform what they have learned during the previous weeks in masterclasses given by Sigvards Kļava and vocal coach Geert Berghs. The masters are four very experienced choral singers: two are members of the Netherlands Chamber Choir and two are with Cappella Amsterdam.
Admission: € 20,- / € 10,- (under 30 years of age)
Tickets available from the website Meesters & Gezellen.
