Pop music on organs
The band Orgel Vreten will perform in concert on Saturday 4 November at the Schnitger Festival in the Aa Church. With two Hammond organs, guitars and drums this promises to be a spectacular show.
After a television performance on De Wereld Draait Door in 2012 things have moved quickly for Orgel Vreten. They have given shows at almost all major venues in The Netherlands and at festivals like Paaspop and Lowlands. Thijs Schrijnemakers and newest band member Darius Timmers collaborated on the eleven numbers featured on their latest album Komrad.
Schnitger organs in Groningen
Schnitger organs are famous and the only city in the world that can boast three of them is Groningen: in the Aa Church, the Martini Church and the Pelstergasthuis Church. Organ aficionados from far and wide come to Groningen to play these organs or listen to them. The festival, too, attracts visitors from all over the world. The Stichting Groningen Orgelstad organizes the Schnitger Festival to allow as many people as possible to enjoy our cultural heritage.
