Shjazz: Sharon Doelwijt
Shjazz is Sharon Doelwijt (Paramaribo, 1972). Sharon is known for her clear and compelling vocal qualities and her rapport with the audience. On stage she combines charm and a warm and expressive voice with dramatic elements reminiscent of Billie Holiday. In Klein Wetsinge she presents But Beautiful, a programme about life, love and constant changes that never change. Inspired by the lives of Billie Holiday, Nancy Wilson and Dinah Washington, Shjazz takes us back in time to the thirties.
Three top musicians
This amazing vocalist will be accompanied by three outstanding musicians from the north. Felix Degenaar, inspired by Bill Evans, is a passionate pianist. He plays in several bands and composes music in various styles, from jazz to techno. Will Jasper on saxophone has performed with many orchestras, such as The Millenium Jazz Orchestra and The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. Bass player Hans Lass is known for his sensitive and precise phrasing. Hans studied double bass and jazz at the conservatories in Groningen and The Hague. While there he accompanied countless workshops, master classes and performances with such greats as James Taylor, Lee Konitz and John Scofield.
