Original compositions and catchy harmonies
On Sunday 5 March the Amsterdam based trio Snowapple perform in concert in the church at Klein Wetsinge. The band is presenting TRACKS, a programme about endless journeys, feeling homesick and longing. Their infectious music features three part harmonies and pop, folk and classical influences.
At Snowapple’s core are three singers/musicians who each have a diverse musical background. Una’s roots (vocals and mandolin) lie in the world of jazz, Laurien (vocals and guitar) had a career as an opera singer while Laura (vocals and piano) comes from a Latvian folk background. Accompanied by their band their original compositions and quirky harmonies result in a unique sound which they describe as a mix of pop, folk and opera.
The singers have performed in the Netherlands at the Oerol festival, in Paradiso and at the Heineken Music Hall (aftershow Jack Johnson and John Mayer), they have been on tour in Europe, the East and West coasts of the United States, and across England and Japan. They performed at several major festivals in Mexico for 10.000 visitors. For their live shows Snowapple collaborates with up and coming fashion designer Mo Benchellal, who designs flamboyant costumes especially for them.
Laura Polence (vocals/ piano), Una Bergin (vocals/mandolin), Laurien Schreuder (vocals/guitar), Caroline Kamp (bass), Bart Hoevenaars (guitar), Alan ‘Gunga’ Purves (percussion)
