Innovative String Quartet
On Sunday 30 April The Savage Five will perform in concert at the church in Klein Wetsinge.
The Savage Five is an innovative string quartet that combines the ‘classical’ sounds of the violin, cello and double bass with the vocals of Irish singer-songwriter Suzanne Savage. ‘Ireland’s hidden music hero’ (Belfast Telegraph).
Suzanne Savage has performed all over the world, as the support act for Paul Brady, as a soloist with River Dance and with her own drum and bass-band Spree. She now performs in a more intimate setting alongside cellist and arranger Hugo Smit, violinist Alwyn Tomas, alt violinist Rachael Yates and double bassist Sven Otte.
This is exciting, innovative music, with elements of folk, jazz, pop and contemporary classical music. In combination with Suzanne Savage’s beautiful voice the result is a completely new genre.
Their first CD ‘Sleepwalking’ was nominated for the Deutsche Schallplattenkritik. The CD was recorded in Groningen. The lyrics of this unmistakably Irish music speak of landscapes, standing stones, love, war, and fancying strangers.
