The Night of Law in the Aa Church

The Night of Diskursi

The two previous editions of 'The Night of ' were a great success and this year the Diskursi student society will once again organize a symposium in the Aa Church. Thursday 1 June is the Night of Law when prominent speakers will lecture on a variety of topics.

Social and scientific
Diskursi have invited speakers who will appeal not only to students and teachers but also to the people of the city of Groningen. They feel that this will help to bridge the gap between students and townspeople.  And let both groups come together in a social and scientific context. This year the following keynote speakers will be welcomed:

Former Prime Minister Dries van Agt: Human Rights and the Israeli Palestinian Conflict
Professor Jan Brouwer: Civil Rights and Earthquake Related Issues
Professor Cees De Vey Mesdagh: Developments in Information Technology Law

As it did last year, Diskursi will also offer speakers other than the keynote speakers a chance to speak in the Aa Church. In the chancel visitors will have an opportunity to speak with each other and with the speakers. In this way Diskursi hopes to achieve the Night’s goal: to create an interesting evening and strengthen the bonds between the townspeople, the university teachers and the students.

The Night of Law will take place in the Aa Church in Groningen. Diskursi will present The Night in collaboration with the Dizkartes student society, the University of Groningen and Bijzondere Locaties Groningen.

Diskursi was established as an intellectual student society affiliated with A.S.V. Dizkartes. Its goal is to facilitate discussions between students of various disciplines. It was inspired by the 18th century Felix Meritis Society in Amsterdam, which endorsed the values of the Enlightenment. All members of Diskursi are students at the University of Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences.

Doors open: 7 p.m.
Admission: € 10 / students € 7.50
