Music from the Low Countries
Did you know that the Low Countries produced some very beautiful music in the 17th and 18th centuries? Come and listen to the beautiful Concerto Armonico by Count Unico van Wassenaer and the pre-classical symphonies by Antoine Mahaut and Christiaan Graaf. And what’s the Italian Pietro Locatelli doing on this programme? He spent many years living and working in Amsterdam as a lucrative music publisher until his death in 1764. That’s why he too deserves to be part of our theme Music from the Low Countries.
ensemble1718 is an ensemble that has devoted itself to performing music composed in the 17th and 18th centuries. We don't have a conductor but for each project we invite a specialist in the field of Baroque music. This time our coach was Lucia Swarts, cellist with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging.
Curious? Come and listen!
