Art in the foyer
From Monday 4 April through Friday 1 July work by artists Barbara Groenwold, Frieda de Witte and Mathilda van Wijnen is on display in the foyer of the Remonstrant Church on weekdays during office hours.
Barbara Groenwold makes graphics, drawings, paintings and photographs: “My reality is a layered reality. The exterior, the layer just under the surface, and the underlying truth. My imagery is about the exterior, but also about the layer underneath, or the layer that I see underneath.”
Pen and ink drawings
Frieda de Witte addresses serious themes in her free and fluid pen and ink drawings: “Discovering human kindness and raising consciousness are important elements in my drawings. They may look like fluid and lighthearted line drawings, but this can be as deceptive as the evil that is disguised in friendly and innocent people."
Mathilde van Wijnen has multiple talents: she is a visual artist as well as a professional cellist specialized in early music. This combination is reflected in her work. “I'm fascinated by boundless spaces that offer me the tranquility to simply ‘be’. I find this in nature but also in the music of Bach and Arvo Pärt. My work is an expression of this.”
Opening hours: 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on weekdays
‘Art in the foyer’ is presented by Organisatiebureau Geert Lameris and Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken.
