3 x 3
From 12th October to 18th December the Remonstrant Church presents the concept 3 x 3: three artists on three floors for three months. During office hours you can view the work of artists Sylvia Strijk, Hector Raphaela and Kim Kenyon.
The glass entrance building to the Remonstrant church is an ideal exhibition space. On three floors three young and talented artists can now display their work.
Kim Kenyon (1 March 1988, Lisbon)
“The natural world has so many beautiful elements that are often ephemeral. Fragile forms in nature fascinate me: I want to capture them for eternity by copying them in steel. The robust material lends itself perfectly to sculpting the seemingly fragile forms. By ‘mimesis’ and by working intuitively I aim for a result that exudes a kind of ‘vital energy’.”
Hector Ceferino Raphaela (26 August 1975, Curaçao)
“My work is representational and it is narrative. I would describe my art as ‘Intention Art’. I start on each piece with the most positive intention and turn it into a work of art. This is how I try to transform my anger about certain religious convictions and core beliefs into positive energy. I express my feelings and emotions in bright and garish colours.”
Sylvia Strijk (26 September 1984, Lelystad)
“Stories have fascinated me all my life, whether in films, books or video games. In different ways worlds were created in which I would lose myself. When I was a child there was nothing I loved better. This sense of being completely captivated by something is what I'm looking for in my work: gentle captivation.”
The work is on display on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
