Drawings, paintings and sculptures
Works by Lammert Joustra are on display at the church in Klein Wetsinge from Sunday 24 July through Sunday 21 August.
Lammert Joustra (1960) is a graduate of the Minerva Art Academy in Groningen. He specializes in drawing, painting and sculpting. Next to his career as a drawing teacher he still works as a visual artist and regularly paints portraits of poets, musicians and artists. He has a preference for plein air painting and in his spare time he loves to paint landscapes and animals out of doors. He creates his small bronze statues in a similar fashion, with sketchy, rapid strokes. In his work he tries to express what he feels is interesting or sensitive. As a teacher he tries to pass on his knowledge about sketching, composition and colour to his young pupils.
The church in Klein Wetsinge is located between Sauwerd and Winsum and offers beautiful views of the Reitdiep Valley. The church was recently restored and renovated. It is run by Nicolaas and Inez Geenen, both born and bred in Groningen. They earned their spurs in Limburg where they managed a restaurant for twenty years. Whenever possible they work with traditional methods and organic products.
The church is open daily. The extensive lunch and drinks menu features a variety of soups, sandwiches and salads. Visitors can climb upstairs to see the unique clockwork and enjoy the panoramic views.
The exhibition is on show daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
