The concert starts in the Aa Church and during the intermission the audience walks to the Martini Church for the second half of the concert. A wonderful opportunity to experience and compare both Schnitger organs and the acoustics of both churches.
Programme: works by Frescobaldi, Froberger, Zipoli, Bach and Buxtehude.
Admission: € 17.50 including a beverage
Sunday 16 October: 10 a.m.
Worship services are no longer held in the Aa Church except during the Schnitger Festival. A unique cantata service based on cantatas by Buxtehude.
The Schnitger organ will be played by Peter Westerbrink, who has been the Aa Church's regular organist since 1992. Westerbrink is specialized in early Northern European organ music and has gained international acclaim as a concert organist, teacher and jury member. He has published several articles about Mathias Weckman, a composer who features prominently in this festival.
