Van Ede Staal to Groningen's provincial anthem
During the Schnitger Festival the Aa Church will present a Stadjersconcert, a concert for all the citizens of Groningen, on Friday, 3 November.
Organist Peter van Dijk will regale visitors with a lighthearted programme featuring popular songs by Ede Staal and even the provincial anthem of Groningen: Grönnens Laid.
This promises to be a concert with a hint of nostalgia. Worship services in the Aa Church are a thing of the past, but Groningen’s senior citizens will remember coming here and singing along to the accompaniment of the majestic Schnitger organ. If you enjoy organ music and singing – and have a lunch hour to spare – you won’t want to miss this concert.
The Schnitger Festival coincides with the Noorderlicht Photo Festival, which is also on show in the Aa Church. The theme of this year’s exhibition is ‘art and science’.
