St. Matthew Passion
On Friday, 30 March the Groningen Student’s Music Society Bragi present a unique concert at the Aa Church. The choir and orchestra will perform the St. Matthew Passion.
Students and young talent
This is the first time that the St. Matthew Passion will be organized and performed by students and young talents in the Groningen area. Talented young vocalists from various Dutch conservatories have been invited to audition for this unique project. Bragi wants to offer these talented young people an opportunity to gain performance experience and make a name for themselves in the music world. Under the baton of Jeroen Helder the Bragi choir and orchestra will perform this beautiful and well-known work by J.S. Bach.
G.S.M.G. Bragi is Groningen’s biggest and oldest student music society. Founded in 1882, it now numbers approximately a hundred members and consists of a symphonic choir, an orchestra and an a cappela choir. The choirs and orchestra rehearse once a week and work on three programmes during the academic year, culminating in several concerts in and around Groningen.
