A hobby turned into a career
Painting has always been Schuil’s hobby, but since 2014 it has become his profession. In Klein Wetsinge works that were inspired by poppies are on show. The style of these colourful paintings is partially figurative and partially abstract.
Gerald Schuil grew up in the province of Groningen and studied art at the Minerva Academy. After teaching art for a few years he became a director, but twelve years ago he took up painting again. At first it was just a hobby but gallery owners frequently asked him to exhibit. In 2014 he decided to turn his hobby into a profession and to focus solely on painting. Most of his big canvases portray landscapes and partially abstract wildflowers.
